Stepping Stanes races are a new series of events for young riders. All off-road, the races don't need a special bike, you can get off the bike and push over obstacles or up steeper bits. The tracks are short - about 1km at most and you'll be expected to keep going for about 25 mins (depending on age). Although the events take the form of a race they are mainly for fun. And they make great spectator events as the riders go round the track, you can watch them most of the way.

So... if you want some fun, a bit of a challenge, some off-road experience and meet other young riders come along to one of the events on the left. You don't have to apply in advance, just get there before the races start.

Competition to win a BMX - Cycle Centre in Dumfries is offering a BMX bike to the winner of the Stepping Stanes t-shirt competition. Open to pupils from primary up to S2.
